Tahoe Strong

***There are so many things to post about this week, I'm going to break down into smaller posts***

One of the many great things about our week at Lake Tahoe is the Family Home Evening we take turns doing. This year my sister Kathryn was in charge. She talked about the scripture in Joshua 1:9 where the Lord told Joshua to be strong and of good courage.

She did a whole lesson on how our family needs to be strong, surround and support each other as extended family. She had one cousin stand up in front, surrounded by all the little cousins, then the older ones, then all the moms/dads, aunts/uncles, grandparents. One cousin tried to penetrate the circle and get in to the middle just as Satan tries to get to us. He tried to go over the top, through the middle and even on the ground, but because of the strength of the family support the one in the middle was safe and protected. It was a very powerful object lesson. She talked about how Tahoe is what makes us STRONG as a family. She had a banner that had Tahoe Strong on it and we all signed it committing to help, support and surround each other and then she gave us all these Tahoe Strong shirts. It as SO AWESOME! Thanks Kathryn!!! (next year it's my turn...pressure's on!)

We have been going to Lake Tahoe for 43 years now. My grandparents decided all those years ago with their children scattered across the country that if they were going to stay close they needed to vacation together. So as long as people got there he provided the accommodations. All these years later Tahoe is still a major part of all our lives. While the week is still mostly spent with our own family now that the families are all so big, out of my grandparents 91 descendants 89 of them were there that week. The two that were missing happen to be my niece who is in Jerusalem on a study abroad and my nephew who is in the MTC. To me that is the power of tradition. Tahoe has become a part of our family and no one wants to miss it.
