When my Mom and Dad come to visit:
- Everyone gets excited days before the arrival as a "package" arrives in the mail, filled with things for us she didn't want to pack in her travel bag, but we can't open it until they arrive
- My refrigerator is filled with good food and treats I never buy...like raspberries for Abby and Orange Juice for Bret
- The kids are in heaven as their favorite books get read to them over and over..
- My Dad makes his trademark "Ssssppp" sound to the baby, and gets lots of smiles in response.
- My kitchen stays clean ALL the time
- There is lots of paddling of my kids canoe's by Grandpa...they love it
- My laundry gets caught up, not only washed and cleaned but folded and put away!
- Zachary plays catch with Grandpa
- My gas tank stays full
- My Dad teases McKenna, and she teases right on back
- We go to our favorite yogurt place...Sweet Frog
- There is lots of talking and visiting
- My Mom brings new recipes we try
- We do lunch at Boar's Head...yummy!
- And of course there is lots of holding of the new baby...more then likely their last grandchild.
(I'm in love with Grayson's smile in this picture!)
This visit from my parents was more meaningful to me given the fact that two weeks before I had Grayson we were within days of losing my Mom, and we didn't even know it. Who knew that gall bladder surgery was going to be a tender mercy and the vehicle which discovered her dangerously high potassium levels that were within 2-3 days of making her heart just stop suddenly with no warning. I was just so grateful she was still with us and able to hold my baby!
Thanks for the great visit!!! We love it when you come to town!
