Halloween

Happy Halloween!!!

McKenna was allowed to dress up for school as something they have studied in the year. She went as "Earth." It was a little it of a stretch as technically they've studied maps, and different parts of the world. But hey, it still counts...here is what we came up with for her earth costume...
She wore brown cloths and then we colored the top portion of her hair green...dirt and grass. We then attached bugs in her hair and even glued one on her face with eye lash glue.
She won the most creative award!

There is a fun tradition here on Halloween that we had not participated in yet, so this was the year. Every year thousands of people converge on The Lawn at UVa and go trick or treating through the student housing there.
We brought Evelyn along with us...after all those Hogwarts students need to stick together!
The kids got TONS of candy...the college kids gave out handfuls of candy to everyone.
Muscle Man showing off his muscles...
There were so many people and it was a little crazy, but it was really fun.
Zachary the cowboy...not to confused with a farmer.
After the Lawn we went over to our friends the Wallaces for dinner. (the family of McKenna's best friend Kate.) After eating and being there for a little while it was time to hit the streets. McKenna and Kate went off with Kate's dad. Theirs was not my favorite costume, but it steamed from them wanting to be the same thing. They both did a basketball camp together this summer and had this jersey. It all snowballed from there and they came up with being "dudets."
Abby spent the night with these two girls...Evelyn and Kathryn. Bret hit the streets with Gavin and Zachary and I went back home to pass out candy.
Combining their THREE different trick or treating events...our kids had a total of 30 pounds of candy!!! Thankfully there is a local dentist that buys the candy from the kids and sends it over seas to the troops. Our kids each saved about a pound of candy, and believe me, that's more then enough!
