We decided that no one will sleep past 8:30 unless it is a Saturday or Sunday. Every day the kids will have three chores to do: clean their room, a chore of their choice, and a chore of my choice. We brainstormed ideas for our Friday Field Trips. And then I asked each of the kids to think about what physical fitness goals they wanted to set for themselves, what country they wanted to learn about, what new skill they wanted to learn, and what they felt they needed to learn to help them for the next school year. They came up with some great things:
Gavin:
- learn to write his name all by himself
- work on a work book every day
- watch the ABC movie every day (there wasn't much complaining about this goal!)
Zachary:
- work on learning multiplication
- study and do a report on China
- will do 20 push ups and practice his Karate for 15 minutes every day
- finish books 3-6 of the Harry Potter series
- he wanted to learn how to make dynamite...I said no so he came up with learning how to build a model airplane
McKenna:
- 20 push ups, 20 curl ups, 15 minutes of soccer practice, and running 1.5 miles every day
- read 6 books
- learn how to make a skirt and maybe an apron
- learn how to make more crafts out of duck tape
- study and do a report on Italy
- learn algebra
- improve hand writing
- do 2 workbook pages every day
Abigail:
- 25 push ups and run 1.5 miles every day
- learn how to make a shirt
- study and do a report on Sweden
- do pages from a math workbook or do reflex math
- improve typing
- read 20 books
- learn how to make 2 good week night family meals
- improve babysitting skills
