Camping

A few weeks ago we took the family camping.

Just one night mind you. And yet, SO much work and SO much stuff is required for that one little night of camping.

It was so much fun. Definitely one for the memory books that we will talk about for years. The weather was great. Beautiful in the evening and nice and chilly at night. We went to this great little spot about 45 minutes from our home. The kids played some troll game with acorns as ammunition in the woods while we were setting up camp. Their squeals of laughter and delight made me smile.
I couldn't get enough of how the light played with and through the leaves of the trees. It was breathtaking.
After setting up we went on a little hike to this lake and then walked around it.
This is Gavin's new face when we tell him to smile for the camera...don't you love it?! He does it all the time now.
They climbed in trees...
And skipped rocks...Abby and McKenna accomplishing this feat for the very first time.
We got back to camp and despite our best efforts were never able to get a fire going. We ate our breakfast for dinner, cuddled up in the tent and still made it a great night.
