Today's Problem...and Solution

Problem: How do you nurture an overly tired, very emotional, sassy seven year old at 6:30 in the morning?

Yes, it was one of those mornings. One of those mornings where she goes to school with red puffy eyes from crying and I take a big sigh as she gets out of the car and wonder what teenage years will bring us. Of course it had to come at the start of my Mothering Challenge. (Good thing that it was on the forefront of my mind or this morning could have been a whole lot worse then it was.)

Solution: Take an hour out of my day to meet her for lunch and bring three of her favorite things...Frito chips, Junior Mints, and cucumbers. Leave the laundry, leave the dishes, leave the projects...and go.

She smiled, hugged me back, and told me she loved me too. Best spent hour of my day!

This made me cry. You are such an awesome mother and great example to me! How excited she must've been that you were able to do that. I think when we have clashes with our oldest daughters, they just need to be loved. Thanks for reminding me!
