Halloween Wrap Up

Gavin had a fun Halloween party at school...
We went trick or treating on the Lawn...
Gavin was Iron Man...
Zachary was a mummy...
McKenna was a Zombie soccer player, which made more sense when she was with her friends who were all different sport zombies.
And then we had Katniss...
The Lawn is always so fun...so crazy and crowded, but fun.

We had to rush home to get McKenna to her friends house and then back to our place to get ready to host Abby and her friends for dinner before they headed out in our neighborhood.  They had a really fun night and then came back to our place for hot chocolate before their mom's picked them up.

McKenna and her friends stopped by for a little hot chocolate mid way through their evening...
McKenna the soccer zombie, Kate the ballerina zombie, Mason the field hockey zombie and AG the lacrosse zombie.

A few days before our friends the Carters had a Halloween party and trunk or treat in their culd-e-sac
Zachary and Clarissa
Emily and Milly
The Evans Family
The Schill Family
Emily Schill and Abby were both Katniss
Gavin Harris, Abe Johnson and Zachary

We carved pumpkins the Sunday morning before Halloween.

When Sandy Came to Town

When Sandy came to town...

School was cancelled for two days.

We played games.

We watched movies.

We made Halloween sugar cookies...

We played out in the wind and the rain.

We pulled out lanterns, candles and flashlights when we lost power.

We crashed a friends house to watch a movie with them rather then sit home in the dark.

Only Bret has such an amazing work ethic that he'll put together a piece of furniture using a head lamp for light in a dark house.

We put our food in laundry baskets on the front porch when we lost power to keep them cold.

We went to see a movie with four other families in the ward.

We made hot chocolate on the stove.

And then we all cheered when the power came back on.  Gavin walked around and turned on every light in the entire house.

Virginia Is For Lovers

Is it any wonder the state motto is "Virginia is for lovers"?  Especially this time of year.
One thing is for sure, you can not live in Virginia without falling in love with this place.  I think a big part of my heart is going to break when it comes time to leave this place.

We took the most beautiful drive one Friday evening during peak color weekend along the Blue Ridge Parkway.  We found some amazing places to stop, climb on fun rocks with amazing views and watch the sun set.  We missed McKenna who was at a friend's birthday party.

Seriously, beautiful fall weather and colors aside, who wouldn't want to live in a state with such a cool motto!
